Leonard Moseley
1800- ca 1850
Leonard Moseley was born in Shelby County, Kentucky in about 1800. In 1824 he married Elizabeth Whitten in Shelby County, Illinois. Elizabeth was the daughter of Easton and Wilworth (Johnson) Whitten.
Children of Leonard & Elizabeth are:
John Moseley, b. Mar 14, 1825, Shelby Co., IL; d. aft 1900, Cooke Co., TX
Easton Moseley, b. Mar 1827, Shelby Co., IL; d. aft 1900, prob Taney Co., MO

Leonard Moseley, b. 1838, Shelby Co., IL; d abt 1862, (died while in Confederate Army during Civil War)
Ann Moseley, b. 1841, Taney Co., MO; d. prob TX
Mary J. Moseley, b. 1855, Taney Co., MO
Leonard died in Taney County, Missouri in about 1850, perhaps in 1855/56 (his last daughter was born in 1855).
Elizabeth’s death date is unknown, but she was counted in the Federal 1850 census for Taney County, but she was not in the 1860 census.
The sons of this family fought in the Civil War on the Confederate side. Leonard “Len” Moseley, their fourth son, was killed during the war.
It is interesting to note that the Leonard’s granddaughter, Mary Elizabeth Moseley married Nathan Wright, who had fought on the Union side of the conflict. There is no record of the Moseley/Wright’s ever being in opposing skirmishes or battles at anytime during the war. Missouri was one of the states that was divided and had brothers fighting against brothers during this conflict.
