Louella Baggett

1893 - 1990

Louella Baggett was born on March 10, 1893 in Caldwell, Burleson Co., TX, the daughter of Samuel and Sidney Ann McLaughlin Baggett. At the age of 19, she married Ernest William Gaines, on December 28, 1913 in Comanche County , TX . She died in a nursing home in Electra, Texas on March 23, 1990 at the age of 97. She lived in her home alone, until about three months prior to her death. Her death certificate indicates the cause of death was cerebral anoxia and aspiration pneumonia; however it can be said she died of “old age.” She is buried in the Gaines family cemetery plot, in the Electra, Texas cemetery.

Clyde Ernest Gaines, was born on September 9, 1914 in Comanche Co., TX and he died of diphtheria at six months of age on March 9, 1915 . He is buried in Dressy, Comanche Co., TX.

Chester Earl Gaines, was born on January 15, 1916 in Callahan Co., TX. He married Audrey Winnell Hudson on September 10, 1934 in Wichita Falls , TX . He died October 6, 1992 in Midland , TX .

Ethelene “Emmy Lou” Gaines, was born on January 10, 1919 in Electra, Wichita Co., TX. She married Forrest Nathan Wright on November 24, 1936 in Frederick , OK . She married #2 Marvin Fox of Vernon , TX on Jun 9, 1971 .

Gerald Corbett Gaines, was born June 14, 1921 in Electra, Wichita Co., TX. He died on June 4, 1942 , in Camp O'Donnell , Philippine Islands as a prisoner-of-war. He was awarded the Silver Star and Purple Heart. His body was disinterred in the Philippines and returned to the Electra, TX, where he was reburied in the Gaines family plot in 1949.

Roy Marvin Gaines, was born on August 19, 1923 and died on May 9, 1987 in the home of his mother, Louella Gaines where he was living at the time. He is buried in the Gaines family plot in the Electra Cemetery , alongside his #3 wife Ruth.

Doris Jean Gaines, was born on November 15, 1928 in Electra, TX and died September 22, 2002 in Wichita Falls , TX . She was cremated.
